what’s blooming…

May 3, 2009

Spring is like a locomotive- once it gets going- it advances quickly and it’s easy to miss all the wonderful things blooming in the garden as well as in the woods.  Today I’m posting photos of the garden I took yesterday- but today things could look quite different out there today.  Narcissus are really on their way out- but they’ve been beautiful.  Merrill Magnolia is finishing up too.  Forsythias are finished, witchhazels were finished a while ago.  All early spring bulbs are given over to foliage now.  Rhododendrons Aglo and PJM and other small leaved rhododendrons have center stage now.  I hope to get into the woods behind Rocky Dale today to capture Trilliums and other wildflowers.  Will post as soon as possible.
