what’s blooming…

June 10, 2009

The garden is certainly moving forward with blooms.  The fringe tree (Chionanthus virginicus), is just starting to open today- so I’ll have some photos of that in my next post.  In the village- my sister’s fringe tree has been in full bloom for 5 days or more by now- what a difference a couple of miles can make!  It’s peony and iris time- I see it all through town.  Korean lilacs and other late bloomers, like Miss Canada, are still filling the air with fragrance.  Spireas are blooming and large-leaved rhododendrons are just past peak.  Thanks for checking in!
